I have installed Kubuntu a bunch of times, but I never remember the installer giving me the option to choose the exact packages I want to install. Most the packages installed by default are pretty good and i actual use them, but there are a few that I would like to eliminate from installation, so i don't have to go back and remove them. Is there a way to choose what specific packages I want to install during installation on the OS? Thanks.

Hmm, that's actually something I'm curious about too.
Hope someone can answer on this.

The alternate install CD gives you tons more options (such as filesystem), not sure about specific packages, though.

Can anyone confirm? -
I don't think you can do this. I regularly use the alternate CD, and don't remember a package selection option.

I think it is possible to get the installer to prompt for specific packages but I don't know how.
However, I am sure that there is a way to give a list of packages to automatically install. You need to customize a seed file to do this. The installation documentation for the alternate CD does explain how to do that. I've only told the installer to use one pre-made seed file rather than another. I've never created or edited a seed file myself. -

Try arch, you can choose EVERYTHING.
Otherwise, try installing a command line system(let me know if you dont know how). -

But that takes 3 hours.
Gentoo is nice though -
With Synaptic or Adept, installing packages during install is moot anyway. It's fairly minimal to start with so you can select what to deinstall/install after installation.
But, no, I haven't seen that either.
Anyway to choose specific packages during Kubuntu install?
