Alright, so now that I've picked up a Thinkpad x41 to add to my collection, I'm thinking about picking up an iBook G3(second gen, non clamshell). I was wondering if anyone knows how these babies run with linux, and what distribution supports them the best.

    Thanks guys,
    Thomas

I did, I was looking for first hand accounts actually ;)

There seem to be a lot of info but not a lot on newer distributions.

Being that PowerPC chips aren't really shipped to consumers any more, there aren't a whole lot of newer distributions targeting that architecture. Debian is likely one of your best bets.

yea i know bud..but like pitabread mentioned you wont' find much for newer distros..and with the lack of ram on those puppies that's another thing u have to consider..that's why i asked how much ram u will have on it? i guess u could try a few lightweight distros..trial and error ya know :)
    good luck!

Yeah, but a PowerPc port may be a bit to much ;) I dunno, I'm not sure I'll get one, but hopefully...unless I see a good deal on a dual core machine :p
I would, and probably will, as a dualboot. Every PC in my house runs Ubuntu(Laptop, Tablet PC, Family Desktop.....mother's phone) ;).

Haha, yeah, I knew, if you try that, please let me know how it goes :p
Yes, that is an option, and I'm certainly capable of installing it(Ran Arch Linux as my main desktops for quite some time), however seeing as all of my house is under Ubuntu, that is a better option. :)
