I might need to replace my 900a soon. If they can keep the price down below $300 I might be interested.

The pre-installed Linux distributions on netbooks have always been among the crappiest things I've seen since I use Linux. And it seems like Asus will stick with that tradition.

    *runs* :D

Sounds to me like Google OS hate or fail a partnership between ASUS and Google.

I'm glad that they're using a distro that doesn't *completely* suck this time around. :D

Asus: please, just load Ubuntu with the standard netbook preload and leave it alone. Don't add a custom UI layer. Don't add a cute suite of "apps". Just install Ubuntu and leave it the hell alone. People will like it without your "value-add", I promise.

Back from the dead. You might have thought that Microsoft killed off MeeGo when it convinced.....ummm.....paid.....Nokia to produce Windows 7 phones that absolutely nobody seems to want. Heck, even I thought that the Netbook version of MeeGo was dead. Well, I guess it isn't, but I can't get too excited, not yet. There are just too many competing, underdeveloped mobile operating systems. IOs makes sense. Android might have a chance in 2012 with Ice Cream Sandwich, after this years colossal Honeycomb flop. HP has the money to fund WebOS. MeeGo will only fly if Intel puts in the money, and in the end, who really wants anything with an Atom processor? Anybody? Anybody. I'll put MeeGo just behind Angstrom Linux, right where it belongs.

Of course, people can just buy a heavily discounted, widely distributed Windows 7 netbook and install any distro they want - and still have an extra Windows 7 license for a dual book for virtual install.

There was just a MeeGo developer conference in SF, and 1.2 came out a few days before that. If you are uninformed about MeeGo, all you need to do is click here.
