how the heck to get this cards driver to work.

I'm using ubuntu 10.04. it's a brand new install but on previous installs I've tried the drivers off AMD's website and the one that are 'built into Ubuntu". neither work. either nothing happens or my computer won't boot anymore (just a blank screen).

any tips? is there a guide anywhere?

I'm on a HP Elitebook 8530p if that helps.

never mind the crazy driver works now... figure that out.

anyone know how to FORCE the screen to stay at 100% brightness? when I unplug it it dims and refuses to go up. The only fix is to start into windows and then shutdown, and start into Ubuntu... this will be a pain if not fixed. I unchecked the 'dim when on battery box in power management but it does nothing.
