    A have this graphics in HP 8510p notebook.
    After install, Ubuntu 8.10 offered me to add restricted diver, installed it and now is in use...
    But HD video from VLC or even visualizations in music player not work correct- it is cutting and black picture frequently...
    Any help...

    It's flickering right? Disable compiz (under appearance, effects(?) tab, choose none) that stopped the flickering for me.

    3D and video are often in conflict on Linux, unfortunately. Try different video drivers in your player, see if those change the game (try xv, gl2, x11, etc.). Those are usually under the advanced settings.
