Has any one tried Avast 4 on Linux yet? Specificly for Ubuntu Edgy.

I hate Panda. So I'm thinking about using Avast.

And I'm using Avast on windows too.

I guess I'll create a Poll too, on who actually uses AV on Linux.

I am running Ubuntu Edgy Eft - no anti virus for me. I don't visit shady sites, and anyway, my impression is that there are probably a lot less viruses for Linux. I may be wrong, but even if so, I would rather take the risk than slow down the system.

There are a lot less viruses that run on Linux than on Windows. So the need for having an anti-virus running isn't that great. Nevertheless, it's always a good idea because someone might send you a virus or you might download it. Although it's unlikely that it will affect your linux installation, you don't want to get a mail attachment with a virus in it and then forward it to someone else. Sure it might not affect you, but whoever you forwarded it to won't be very happy. So yes. Get an anti-virus program (Avast, Panda, Clam, whatever), and at least try to scan any attachments you're sending to people.

I use KMyFirewall on Kubnutu Dapper. I really don't need an antivirus, and I already have a firewall in my router.

Besides, all I do is visit NBR anb a bunch of other forums.

I use ClamAV. I ran avast on a windows system for a while but I did not like the interface. Check it out and let us know.
