AWN manager doesn't start the program, by the way. That should open the settings for it. There should be something called Avant Window Navigator (or the command avant-window-navigator) that opens the actual dock.

I think Avant Window Navigator needs to be open before AWN manager can work

I wasn't very impressed with AWN...I uninstalled, however loved the rocket dock on the Vista side, but I'm never there anymore 'cept to launch a game. :D

I'll have to try rocket dock...I haven't really liked any of the docks for Windows...but then again, I did like how AWN could launch AND keep track of my open windows...after putting the menu there, I hardly needed the actual deskbar

I love AWN. Once you get the settings right it's great.

that looks very nice....when I had it up, I got it to restart with linux everytime, but it would drop my icons and start blank...but I didn't put much time into it ...how do you fix that? Maybe I'll give it another go....

Yes it was buggy the first few tries for me too. It basically keep disappearing.
I don't know exactly what I did, but I can say after I dragged some Icons on it, put it in start up sessions, and play around with the settings, it became very stable after that.
