I remember looking at an application a few days ago which measured the rate of discharge in my battery as well as showed a prediction of how much battery life I would get in Ubuntu. Does anyone know what application this was? I am having a hell of a time finding it again :<

I do believe it is the Gnome Power Management tool, or something like it. It should be accessible from the battery icon.

I removed the default battery icon and the one I was able to add back in is not the same. Is there another way to get to this app?

I think there is. I believe If you type Gnome-power-settings into the terminal it should start. Its something like that. Jeese, I really need to reinstall linux.

i believe there is a setting under "Administration -> administrator -> power saving" (something like this) and in there there should be a little checkbox like "show battery icon always" <-- check that box
