Hi all,
just installed ubuntu on my old pc and havnt got a clue to getting my belkin wireless card to work. The full name of the card is BCM4318, can anyone find me a simple guide of how to get drivers for this. Bare in mind i have never used linux before now.
thanks all.

Its a broadcom card. They hate linux. Like, REALLY hate linux. You COULD try the bcm43xx drivers, or download nsidwrapper. I would download nsidwrapper and use it to install the drivers used in windows. Its much simpler.

think u can write a simple guide of how i do that?

Sure. Im going to make 2 assumtions though. 1. You have a flash drive with the drivers for windows on it. 2. You can connect to the internet using ethernet. Ok. First step, type "gksudo apt-get ndiswrapper-gtk". This should make another option appear in the preferences or administration menu's once it's finished. Click on it (can't remember the name right now, but its obvious, it either says windows drivers or wireless drivers and is usually at the end of the list). it should be self explanatory from there.

i dont have a connection to ethernet atm and my drivers are on the disk that came with the card.
-
Then it gets complicated. Wait until you gave an internet connection, then do what i said. the other ways are much longer and complicated.
-
so take my pc down to my router plug it in then put in the cd and do what u said to do and it should work?

Si senor!
