I just loaded 64 bit 14.04 LTS on the Sager in my signature. I want to run some benchmarks for the stock graphics driver before I upgrade the driver, to what is offered on the Intel site. https://01.org/linuxgraphics/downloads Can anyone recommend a benchmark program that runs under 14.04? Thanks
EDIT .. I found this article, http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=intel_iris_pro5200&num=1 does anyone have any experience with this ? http://www.phoronix-test-suite.com/
After doing all Ubuntu updates, I tried to install the linked test suite but got a message that this could harm my computer so being a novice I canceled the install.
    Thanks Allurgroceries

I haven't had a real reason to graphics benchmark for a while, but what I used last was unigine. It's not open source, so boo. I've used PTS but it's kind of an unwieldy beast (last I checked it was coded in PHP). I think it includes unigine.

There's hopefully a better alternative out there that's more open saucy. If you find it please share!

You could try Unigine Heaven. Installation is easy enough, just grab the .run file from a mirror or the torrent. Do a 'chmod 700 the-filename' so you can execute it, then './the-filename' which will extract itself into a subdirectory. Then just './heaven' in the subdirectory to launch the benchmark.

Problem is it doesn't render anything for me using the HD4400 drivers (both with and without the intel update package). There are a whole bunch of unexpected shader errors so maybe in only works with nvidia/ati proprietary drivers on linux? The FPS counter did go up a bit after install the intel update package (from 11FPS or so to 14FPS, 1080p, lowest settings) although I was under the impression that Ubuntu 14.04 already included Intel's 2014Q1 graphics stack to in theory performance should be the same.
