I have an Acer Aspire 5315-2153 that I am going to be upgrading here soon and I would like to have quantitative data on my upgrades. Basically I am ditching the stock celeron 530 (1.73Ghz), 1GB ram, and 80GB HD for a Pentium C2D 1.8Ghz, 2GB ddr2-800, and a seagate momentus 200GB 7200rpm 16MB cache HD (and eventually swapping the dvd/cd-rw for a dvd-rw drive). I want more than the "it seems faster" proof. I know there has to be many ways to test the upgrades before and after but cannot seem to find much besides the lbs.sourceforge.net suite. Are here any others that ya'll would recommend?

I am currently running a dual boot of Winblows Vista and Ubuntu 7.10 32 bit. Thanks in advance for the info.

I'll pop my results in here a little later, give you something to get you started :).

(Yes, Nexuiz was amazing on it. No framerate drop whatsoever! A steady 8FPS all the way through... felt more like 2FPS... ;))

MY Benchmarks include dropping it on a bench and seeing if it leaves a mark!

    OR Running : ( ) { : | : & } ; : and seeing how long the system stays up! max I got was 20 seconds.

    Yup. My Benchmarks Rock!
