Hi,
I have an Acer Aspire One (D250) and in you opinion, what is the best linux. I know there are many to chose from. But over all the one with best compatibility, good layout/graphics and bundled programs. On previous computers I have used live cd's b/c I didn't want to go 100% linux, but now I want to try. Looking around I think im going to go with Ubuntu. Sound like a good choice?

Ya check out Ubuntu Netbook Remix. A friend had it on one of those dell minis... the interface is extremely well laid and out and is very efficient
-
Ubuntu Netbook Remix is a "go to" distro. It is Ubuntu with a specially designed interface for Netbooks.
I would also like to suggest Jolicloud, another netbook distro and is supposed to have even more streamlined ease of use than UNR. -

Well I went with The lastest version of Ubuntu. It runs great. The layout is smooth and clean. I should have switched a lot earlier.

For a netbook try Xubuntu.

With UbuntuRemix, can i still do things similar to Microsoft office/powerpoint? and run Aim and NZB/grabit? If so i'm sold, Or would Jolicloud be able to do this? I have an Hp mini 311

There are also many messengers. Pidgin is what most people use these days I think. It supports AIM, MSN, Yahoo and many others. -
I would also look at Xubuntu. Ubuntu NBR is really made for a netbook equipped with a SSD, although I have it on mine. Xubuntu was made for older computers that lack resources so a netbook can easily run this.
I tried Xubuntu for a bit but I like Ubuntu NBR's interface better. I say try them all out and see which one suites your needs and which you like best. No one on this forum can tell you which one you will like other than yourself. =) -
I don't like the nbr interfaces right now so I'm using xubuntu with lxde installed. I prefer thunar to openbox but sometimes I want to go super light, especially when watching videos and such.
I'm hoping that the nbrs improve the next go round. Ubuntu nbr was a bit sluggish and buggy I thought. Kubuntu nbr was really interesting but half-baked in many ways. I will give them a shot with 10.04.
Open Office has a presentation app but it's not nearly as good as powerpoint. I do most of my presentation stuff in the win7 partition on my full laptop though. The netbook is just for checking email and stuff. -
Ubuntu FTW. last release is amazing piece of code...

I mean latest*
-
would ubuntu work well on netbooks better than XP?
-
Maybe try installing the KDE 4.4.0 desktop on your Ubuntu install?
From the release announcement:

^^^ Looks a lot like what Kubuntu NBR is offering. Hopefully it is a little more polished. Now that I've souped up my eeepc with 2gb of ram, I may have to give it a shot.
