I just updated my R60e to Ringtail, but have an interesting issue. When I boot with the AC connected, it boots to a blank screen. It makes the start sound, but I see nothing. If I boot on battery, it starts normally and I can plug in the AC, but my battery is good for only about 30 minutes, which is a problem. I started the machine in recovery mode with the AC and after it did it's thing, it worked. I noticed other were having this issue on google, but didn't see a definitive answer. It seems like this should be a setting somewhere, but I don't know what it is. Anyone have an answer? Thanks for any help.

Can you hit CTRL+ALT+F1 to get to a terminal when that happens?

Thanks AUG, but no dice. The only way I can get it to boot at all now, ac or no, is to hold down the shift key and have it go into recovery mode. I tried all the options there to no avail. Today when I tried using it, it was very slow, which is not how it was the first few days I had it, when it seemed to work normally, other than the it wouldn't boot. The machine appears to post alright, so it doesn't look like a hardware issue, but I have no idea why it's doing this.

That's a super weird one. Two more questions. 1) is the backlight on, or is the screen totally powered off? 2.) Can you edit the grub command line and remove the quiet parameter to see what is going on?

Yes, I believe the backlight is still one as there's a bit of bleed there, but no image whatsoever. I could edit grub if I knew how.

At the Grub2 boot menu (right after POST):
1.) Select the kernel you want to boot with the up/down arrows (if it's different from the default)
    2.) Hit the E key
3.) Use the arrow keys to get to the end of the line that has 'quiet' in it, and delete that from it edit: also delete 'splash' too
    4.) Ctrl+X to boot

I tried that, but it produced the same result. I think I'm just going to revert back to 12.10. It's not like I'm doing anything where I'd benefit much from 13. Hopefully but the next version, they'll have things worked out.
