    I am trying to install windows xp via a bootable usb on a 10in msi wind that has linux installed. However, when I boot from the usb, the screen popped "bootmgr missing". What do I do?

    yeah, i guess the first question is whether or not you've created a bootable usb stick

    You can have the files or .iso image on the stick, but if it is not a bootable stick it won't do anything

    I basically followed the tutorial online on how to create a bootable usb drive to install windows 7. After I had done that, I deleted everything on that drive and dragged and dropped the files for installing windows xp onto the usb.

    This is not a linux problem, by the way. I'm not sure why this thread hasn't been moved/deleted yet.

    @corona7w

    did you finally solve the problem?

    i'm currently having the exact same issue with my new netbook. i bought an acer aspire one d250, which came without anything install, but did come with a linpus linux cd. but when i boot up the computer, i get the same error that you got.

    i then decided to copy windows 7 on a 8gb flash drive, using wintoflash. it loads without problemas until i get to the part where i format the disk. i format the disk, click next, and i get this error:

    "Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the Setup log files for more information."

    =(

    You need the tutorials and 'how-to's for installing Windoze after Linux.
