Is it possible to COD5 on ubuntu using crossover? If it is please help install

Ha. Good luck. Even if it is, it'll be slower.
-
You're about 2 or 3 years too early. COD4 is still unplayable via crossover/wine/anything in linux.

i would always assume any new game is not playable under linux (unless they happen to do linux natively, last time i know of that happening was neverwinter nights)

Always check http://appdb.winehq.org/ before posting here about whether or not a game works in Wine. The Wine AppDB is a lot more comprehensive and can provide a lot more specific details than the people here can.

When did this happen? I checked like a month ago and it didn't.

Not sure, but at least in the past summer because I ran it once or twice out of curiosity. The FPS (obviously) didn't compare to Windows so I didn't pursue it further.
(did a google search) Some install guides for Linux date back to February like this one http://www.fsckin.com/2008/02/21/how-to-run-call-of-duty-4-cod4-modern-combat-in-linux/ -
, I voted for cod4 last month on the win appdb....how did it say it didn't run then and now it says it does

Don't count on COD5 to work on Ubuntu, or any linux distribution for a while.
-
Games under Wine, if they do run at all, often suffer from lower fps, artefacts, missing fonts, stability problems, and even missing functionality (ex, sound does not work).
These kinds of issues still plague somewhat old games that have been around for a while, so I wouldn't be too optimistic about getting CoD5 running in Linux. Even if you do get it to run, it will not be a pleasant experience. -
Not always true. The original COD plays better with wine in linux.
