Question, Im thinking about trying out Mint soon as my leap into Linux. Im wondering can you play games like Oblivion, COH, and WOW from Mint? Where is the best place to learn about this OS and its features. Or would it be better to use Ubuntu?

It doesn't matter what distribution you use because you'll have to use Wine either way; whatever applications you intend to run, you can check whether they are compatible here:

you'll probably want to reboot into your 'gaming partition, ie. windows' to do that....some games will run ok though...check out winehq, cedega, etc.

Yeah, I would say just keep a smallish windows partition for games and boot into it when you want to play. That is what I do. You can fuss around with Wine in meantime and if you get everything to work, great!
