I was searching for a wireless optical or laser mouse in stores. Everything was labeled either for windows xp/vista only or for windows xp/vista and MAC, but none for linux. I've really never tried to plug-in a wireless laser or optical mouse with Linux OS because it might not work. What do you think? Do you think a wireless laser or optical mouse compatible with windows only or windows and mac can work with Ubuntu 9.04? Thanks![]()

Everything with a USB transmitter should work. I use a Microsoft wireless mouse, personally. To be honest, I always buy Microsoft mice and they always work.
Bluetooth should work too, but only if your Bluetooth adapter works!

So you mean a Logitech, Razer, or any other wireless and gaming mice compatible for windows XP/vista only or windows XP/Vista and MAC will surely work with no problems, with all its features, on Ubuntu 9.04 and other Linux distros? Because if you're sure, I'll be buying one already tomorrow
If that's the case, why don't they include Linux OS in the mouse's list of required OS? -
Um, no, not all features. Well, all 5 buttons on my Microsoft wireless mouse works in my linux, as well as the mouse wheel and all that. So I guess the odds are pretty good, but no doubt about it there's some radically different mouse out there with features that only bloatware can utilize.
If you're interested, my mouse is the Microsoft Explorer.

The DPI isn't given on the actual item.

I'm using a wireless logitech nano....works great. They all should as the signal between the mouse and receiver doesn't change

Most wireless optical and laser mice should work, can't use the word all though. My Logitech Vx revolution works perfectly. The scroll wheel, left and right mouse buttons and back and forward mouse buttons all work out of the box with no config needed. If you have a mouse with more mouse buttons and need them configured to do special thing check out btnx. I have used it and it works pretty good.
In addition my bluetooth Thinkpad mouse works perfectly with my internal Bluetooth as well. I have tried these mice on Ubuntu, Kubuntu and Debian and they all worked like a charm. No config necessary. -
Aye. I have a Logitech G5 that works great under Linux, the one thumb button does "back" in the browser, and with games you can configure it as just another button. The thing you will miss with them is an easy mapping of a mouse button to a macro or other function.

Thanks, guys!
Now, I can buy a wireless mouse without the fear of incompatibility with my Ubuntu 9.04 OS
Can a wireless laser or optical mouse compatible for mac and windows also work for linux OS?
