    A few simple terminal commands:

    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:diesch/testing
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get install classicmenu-indicator

You get an Ubuntu icon in the notification area with a full Gnome style dropdown. So far, I have found a single glitch or downside using ClassicMenu Indicator with Unity. If your PC has the hardware to support Unity, I really don't see the downside to this menu tweak?

I'm not sure if you can perform the tweak from the GUI, but any command line phobic user can check it out by searching for "ClassicMenu Indicator" in the Ubuntu Software Center.

Oh thanks! I hate the "guess what app does what?" interface foisted onto the users with unity. ugh.
