This isn't a Linux question per say, but since Clonezilla is Linux based, I thought I might get the best help here. Anyway, may laptop running XP Pro has drive with two partitions - a system partition and a storage partition. I'm trying to use Clonezilla to make an image of the system partition, which I can hopefully restore if need be. Here's the issue, I set up the storage partition to the place where the image stores, but if I do that, Clonezilla tells me there's no mounting drive. I have a external drive, but if I use that, it will only let me do the whole drive, which I don't want to do cause it's huge. I only want to image the system partition. Did I miss something in the setup or is there something else causing this? Thanks for any help.

Make sure you're doing an image instead of disk-to-disk:

When you get here, select local dev and choose your external disk. It will save the image file here:

These screenshots are from the livecd. If you're using clonezilla SE the menus are a little different but the idea is the same.

If you're still having problems, you might want to post more specific details about the step that is giving you trouble.

Thanks for the help. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but no matter which option I seem to chose, I get a choice I don't want. Either it won't let me go forward, I get an error message or it tells me it's going to format the disc, which I don't want. I installed True Image and used that instead. It would have been nice to use Clonezilla so I didn't have to install any software and I don't need any of the fancy features of True Image. I just need a clean install image. Thanks again.
