I am in the market for a new laptop and Linux Compatibility is my #1 priority, I've narrowed it down to 2, and the main (compatibility related) difference between these two are the video cards:
Asus N61JQ - ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730
    or
    Lenovo Y550p - NVIDIA GeForce GT 240M

    Side-by-side comparison on NewEgg

I plan on Running Ubuntu 10.04.

    Thanks in advance,
    -BassKozz

Try asking the respective N61jq and y550p's owner's lounges.

    Thanks for the suggestion wishmaster.dj,

    Done: N61JQ Owners Lounge

And Done: Y550P New forum post (couldn't find the "owner's lounge thread")

For a more Linux centric question, I am currently leaning towards the N61JQ, does anyone have any experience with running ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730 on Ubuntu?

ATI Linux driver support of the 5000 series GPU, (5870), was discussed in this thread. The good news is that the Linux 10.4 ATI driver has been released, and Ubuntu's 10.04 release includes support for installing that driver. So if you are looking to use the latest Ubuntu release, 10.04, you should have support for the GPU in the Asus N61JQ with your installation.

    Good Luck..
