So i was searching around for some interesting things to do with Ubuntu and I came across Conky. I have looked at a few pre-made scripts, but I am having trouble configuring it to do what I would like. Is there some sort of howto to get rhythmbox to display more than just the artist and track name

for reference I was looking at this site:

    http://linuxowns.wordpress.com/2008/04/04/create-a-custum-conky-setup/

I was also taking a look at a few variables i could use off this website ( http://conky.sourceforge.net/variables.html) but i didn't know how to write the exact scripts to use the variables as well. care to help?

as of right now, i'm not sure exactly how i would use conky so i don't have specific questions, more of a general "how can i use this so i can customize it myself" thing.

    Troll.

On-topic, I use conky as well. It was a process that took me the whole day as it was my first time experimenting with it. I had to get emerald and a few other things too. Also, get Avant Window Navigator from Synaptic. It's awesome!

the best thing to do is find a bunch of random conkyrc's and just take a look at them (run conky to see while it looks like while looking at the rc)

you can quickly see how variables work and what most options do. then you should have a good place to start and only have issues with more obscure things you want to do.

Do you mean where the all the songs are listed or where the current song being played is displayed?

    Here's what mine looks like:

i meant rhythmbox settings in conky. I found a code that lets me view the artist and the track but that is it. i have tried looking to see if i could write my own settings to view things such as the album, track length, current song length, etc but i haven't been able to get it working.
