    Could I run linux on this laptop?

    Should run Ubuntu just fine, and most distros like Fedora, Linux Mint, Mandriva, etc.

    You should download the Ubuntu LiveCD and check it out for sure.

    I'm guessing he's looking to buy the laptop for linux, so that may be a "bit too late" solution. Either way, there is NO REASON Ubuntu, or as Thomas said, pretty much any mainstreamed distro won't run on that computer.

    You can also try WUBI (Windows Ubuntu Installer) as a dual boot setup and take it for a test drive too.
