    I only expect Ubuntu's hardware compatibility to grow as it is being used on Dell machines now.

    Hmmm... I may need to update my machine at home then. Do you happen to know what webcam chipset you use? You can use lsusb and post the results for the webcam.

    Some Creative cameras still don't work, such as mine which has an M5603C chip in it that no functional driver exists for.

    Yep. Mine's 041e:4055. I know it by heart because I look up info on it just about once a week.

    Almost identical name, totally different guts.
