Hi there, everything else is perfectly working without a problem, but I didn't manage to make the mic work, I don't know why, it seems to detect everything and I've played with the mixer but nothing.
In Skype and sounds recorder, it doesn't work at all.
Any hint or idea?![]()
Like I said: Lenny with kernel 2.6.26-1-amd64 and Macbook Pro 3.1 (SantaRosa October 2007)...![]()
Thanks a lot by the way![]()

Why Debian Lenny? Try Ubuntu, Linux Mint, etc. and come back
-
I think you might have better luck with either 1. the 32 bit edition or 2. Ubuntu. Ubuntu has better hardware support.
-
Whats wrong with having Debian? I don't get it
I know that Ubuntu has better hardware support but I still prefer Debian if I am able to fix this...
Thanks anyway
-
Nothing is wrong with Debian, I just don't think you are going to get the hardware support you desire with the 64 bit version. Try the 32 bit and it might be better.
-
Now is working, I just played a bit more with the sound mixer.
I still prefer Debian, for me it seems fuster than Ubuntu in a few things. I would say It runs a little bit lighter ... for me
-
You do know most of the packages which Ubuntu get come from Debian's repositories right?
You do understand that that also happens to mean that Debian has the same if not better hardware support then Ubuntu, right?
Fail post is fail. -
Yes I do know Ubuntu is based on Debian but it is updated much more frequently and Ubuntu and developed independently. Go troll some place else. The fail **** is old, grow up.
-
Fail is old, you're still ignorant. Debian maintains both a testing and unstable branch that are generally more up to date then any given stable ubuntu. These are updated far more frequently, so learn your stuff before saying one distro has better blah then another.
EDIT: Lenny is the current testing branch, just fyi, and is running a more up to date kernel then 8.04, generally meaning better hardware support. -
Ok so the unstable branch has the bleeding edge, but it is called unstable and testing for a reason. Fact is Ubuntu is an all around better choice for reliable and hardware supported desktop environment.
-
original post was referring to the testing branch of Debian, which is just as stable as Ubuntu (Ubuntu mostly draws from unstable repos for each release) that's really all I've got to say on that subject.
-
I would say Lenny is even more stable than Ubuntu.
At least for me
-
Ubuntu has a custom kernel, I might add.
And you can upgrade it easily.
Besides, Debian breaks..and alot.
I ran sudo apt-get upgrade and borked the entire system once.
Debian Lenny 2.6.26-1-amd64 and MacBook Pro, microphone doesn't work...
