I have a Dell Mini 10 that will get here Friday.
I want to replace the Win7 Starter OS with Ubuntu 9.10
I'm not really interested in dual boot.
This machine will only be used for wifi internet and possibly tethering to my Blackberry for those times when wifi isn't available.

    Here are the relevant specs:
    224-5421 Dell Inspiron 1011
    317-1883 Intel Atom processor N280, 1.66GHz 667Mhz, 512K L2 Cache
    311-9255 1GB DDR2 SDRAM,1 DIMM
    320-8233 10.1 Inch Widescreen Display (1024 x 600)
320-8314 Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 950
    341-9559 160GB, 2.5inch, 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
430-2931 Dell Wireless 1510 802.11n Half Mini Card
    320-7800 Integrated 1.3M Pixel Webcam
430-0598 Bluetooth 2.1 module with EDR

Does anyone here see any glaring hardware conflicts?
Does anyone know if this wireless card is a Broadcom?
My main concerns are the wireless and the Bluetooth, followed by tethering to my Blackberry Curve.

It looks AOK....the bluetooth should be fine...I'm using a BT mouse on a Dell Vostro 1220 right now....the wireless? I hate richarding around with anything other than an intel card, but it should be OK whatever it is.....they sell that unit with Ubuntu preinstalled I believe.....is it the Mini 10 that has Ubuntu Preinstalled?

No, this one has the crappy Win7 "Starter" OS installed, hence my desire to go with Ubuntu.

I'm Pretty sure that the wireless card is a Broadcom. I should still work but you might have a little trouble.

Tethering with linux is going to be a bit harder with Linux than Windows.

Dell sells these netbooks in ubuntu flavor, so they probably have drivers for them developed :)

    So far I'm 90% there.
Bluetooth and WiFi were easy to get running.
Tethering to my Blackberry... I'm working on it.

Just so you know tethering via iphone, I could never get it to work via usb which is what I wanted. I only got it to work via bluetooth.
