    Hello Friends,
    This is my first post I ever did so please be nice..
    I have a ebay store and I've been buying from the same company for 9-months ok..
    2 months ago I bought 3 HP Compaq 6510b notebooks, Every computer I ever had was Windows from 98 to Win.7, Its my fault I didn't read the whole ad but when I powered up I was freaked out..

    I tried using it for 2-weeks but just don't like the uBuntu Linux system, the HP is great is fast, it's built ram tough, but it's not me.. I need to sell it but I have all my eBay and PayPal info on it..
    I don't have 5-hours on it but I need to get what evers on it off, It dosn't have to be any 5-star program anything simple..
    One more thing when I turn it on right after I turn it on before the program comes on it shows a few error messages, but it's to fast to read..

    If someone could be so kind and have a answer I'd appriciate it..

    Thx.Chris

    Too bad you don't like Ubuntu.

    If you want to securely wipe the entire hard drive including the Ubuntu OS, you can use DBAN:

    Darik's Boot And Nuke | Hard Drive Disk Wipe and Data Clearing

    If you only need to remove your personal info, deleting your user directory which is /home/yourusername should be enough. You can use srm from the secure-delete package to securely delete it. In order to delete your home folder you will need to create a second user account to issue the command. For example:
    Code:
    sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install secure-delete
    sudo srm -r /home/yourusername

    why not just install windows 7 on it? specially if the hardware is working fine, only reason some resellers installs linux on machines like those is to be able to lower the price.

    so if the hardware is fine for you then you could easily get a copy of windows 7 to replace ubuntu :)

    Yes, buy a copy of windows 7. It will install over ubuntu.

    You're missing out on ubuntu tho. Give it a chance.
