I was thinking of installing openSUSE 11 on my One (WinXP 120 HDD GB 1.5 GB ram). Not interested in keeping XP just single booting Linux. Has any one done it yet? I guess I can try installing it on a USB drive and see what works and what doesn't. I am open to any input or suggestions.
Thanks

what about ubuntu netbook remix or whatever it's called?

Linux Mint seems to do well on netbooks.
Also the Eee Ubuntu might work good, even though its for the Eee PC.
Of course, there's always arch -
I will look into Mint and if I do Ubuntu it will be the regular version. I may even wait until Fedora 10 is out.

I installed Ubuntu about a week after i got my acer... i'm still doing a dual boot... ubuntu runs really fast... if you decide to install ubuntu try out this link:

no idea about suse...
Edit: Ubuntu Remix ended up annoying me more than helping... you can install it but you may like it better uninstalled with a couple of applets still there like window switcher... -
i would recommend either downloading a few versions before you wipe your hard drive, or dual boot at first until you find one that works well. You dont want to wipe XP off to find out that the one distro you downloaded doesnt work, then have to reinstall XP just to download a different one.
but, try ubuntu and fedora. They are relatively simple (although fedora has changed quite a bit since ive last used it) -
debian boots in about 5 seconds after using a custom monolithic kernel (See the gentoo wiki for which stuff to enable).
gotta love that insideH2O BIOS not dilly-dallying around -
You could try gOS (Google OS), which is based on Ubuntu and has been used for Everex netbooks.

Yeah, I'd shop around a bit. Burn a pile of live cds and go through a few installations. It takes a while to figure out what you need/want.
