As long as you have the source and dependencies it should be able to run on any distro right?![]()

That is correct, to the best of my knowledge Now, depending on how it is packaged you may need to make some alterations (ie. making .rpm run on a .deb distro), but there are freely available programs able to translate. From pure source tarballs and all that, any distro can run any Linux program, as long as the dependencies are fulfilled.
