Fixed some bugs...I'm going to check it out again....it's ranked #2 behind Ubuntu in the last 7 days page hit ranking on DW so I thought it might be of interest to some. Good, good looking distro. Had some minor bugs when I tried 3.0, so off to the races again.... :D

EDIT: I tried the XFCE install....wasn't bad, but 'easy install' had problems installing the Nvidia driver. When they get this thing polished up (on the inside), I think it's really going to be something. It seems they are really trying to do much at once, but it's a great effort so far.

What sets Dreamlinux apart from other distros? What features does it have?

the hardware recognition was great, the desktop with Awn/Engage whatever it is is great for dock fanatics....still needs a little polishing but is usable if you like it enough IMO. I think they are trying to be the OSX of the linux world....not a bad thing IMO.

I never really understood the point of a dock - it seems like an absolute waste of screen real estate. It's so much easier to assign keyboard shortcuts using the winkey+<a letter> than hunt for an icon every time you want to open an app.

AFACT, this is just another way to entice Windows/Mac users to make the switch (nothing wrong with that :D ).

^^^ I think that is the idea. Dream and gOS are trying to implement the enlightenment desktop to capture the OSXers. But if you shelled out good money for a macbook, why would you drop a clone of OSX into it?

At any rate, check out gOS's is new website that is obviously biting the style of Apple's marketing:

You can assign hotkeys to shortcuts in Windows easily. ;)

DreamLinux does look awfully like OS X; maybe even better, IMO.

It seems like a good distro, but for now I'm sticking to Arch. I think I might try Ubuntu 8.04 though.

It's looks fantastic, and debian based at that (if you like that), but how can I say it....they need just a tad bit of polishing of the internals to remove a few little gotchas....but I think it might give Ubuntu a run for the donations. Have you seen the DW page hit rankings lately, last thirty days, 3 months? Ubuntu has just run away with it. But DL is #2 in 7 days, I think 8th for 30 days? Interesting way to gauge popularity.
