Hey everyone,
I've done a lot of searching on the net for help in this area but no guides apply to my exact situation and I'm not quite confident enough to work it out myself.
My disk is set up as shown in the attachment.
I installed MediaDirect and Vista as per Dell's instructions on the MediaDirect booklet, so it's the same as it would have been had I done nothing to the laptop (I reformatted and reinstalled MediaDirect and Vista after going back to XP for a while).
I was hoping to have to do no more than shrink the Vista partition and add a partition for the Ubuntu install.
So basically what I want is Vista to boot when I press the power button, Ubuntu to boot when I press the MediaDirect button, and for MediaDirect to be gone completely.
If anyone knows of any guides, or can help me through this, it would be much appreciated.
Cheers.

You should read these threads and then ask your questions either of the guide authors in them, or in the thread in general. What you want to accomplish is a variation on what they've outlined.
