Let me begin with my specs.
    HP DV6500T
    Intel C2D 2.4 GHz
    Nvidia 8400M GS
    Wireless AGN
    Realtec Audio
    -------------------------------
I installed Gutsy and get everything to work from wireless to audio to nvidia driver.
BUT now i have a few problem: I was able to play some MP3 earlier. Now, when i try to play any music with Totem Movie Player (it comes with Gutsy) or any other program, that program crashed and I have to force quit it. I cant even get on youtube and play video or get on IMEEM.com and listen to any music because my firefox will become grayscale indicating it just crashed and is no longer active. I thus have to close out what ever that just got Crashed. Why is this? What is causing my audio to crash my programs.
I DO know that audio is working because my ubuntu start-up sound is loud and clear! But playing audio (MP3 etc,) are not possible.!!!!

My other issue is the Nvidia 8400M GS! its working and everything but its SOOOOO SLOWWW... it cant even run compiz smoothly. I mean my old dv6000t with geforce go 7400 is WAY MUCH BETTER than this new 8400M GS! What the heck?
When i minimize a window, its SO LAGGY!!! i cant even use compiz without it being very choppy!!!
Has there been a fix for this?

anyone out with the DVx500T models, your help would be greatly appreciated! Ive been searching for hours and days and still no luck with both of these two issue!!!

Do you use NVidia drivers from the restricted drivers manager?

you have all the correct codecs installed right? if not go into add or remove and search for 'ubuntu restricted' and it should turn up something about a bunch of restricted codecs that come bundled in a package

and about the nvidia thing, im also having troubles wiht that, but i just gave up on it and turned off compiz... i used envy to install the driver and it seemed quite slow. I remember when i used fedora 7 i was able to play counterstrike source on linux with only a fps drop of ~10 from playing on vista, and i was able to use beryl without any problems.
