This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    There is a reason why all these Vista ready notebooks (like mine) have 2 GB of RAM from the get go: it's to monitor itself in order to protect and maintain it's own operations. LOL Trying out Ubuntu should be fun!

    Maybe you should also read some of the rebuttals to the original April 2006 blog article. With regard to Windows anything, being able to do more things, with the widest compatibility possible, does require more code and resources.

    Vista is a joke when it comes to PCBSD, DesktopBSD, or Ubuntu :)

    And in the process manages to be less secure and more unstable. Give me security and stability any day over being able to run ancient applications which should have been upgraded eons ago anyway.
