Has anyone knowledge of this distro?
-
Not really, it uses enlightment, based off Debian or Ubuntu I believe.
-
it's still in development I think
-
It definitely looks nice....I just tried out the unstable liveCD....very innovative...I'm trying to get a download code for the stable version
-
Enlightenment is a window manager, so we should compare it to Metacity, not to GNOME.
-
Elive is a nice debian based distro designed to be lightweight while still providing lots of nice eye candy. Its one of the fastest pre-assembled distros I've used and run really nicely on almost any hardware.
-
If anyone wants a download code for the stable LiveCD, pm me...I only have two left.....
-
the livecd doesnt seem to work
after settings up all the options, it just takes you to some sort of terminal.
looking at their forums, it seems like thats a common problem. -
the liveCD for the unstable CD worked fine...I'm trying the stable version now
-
lemme know how it goes.
-
They want donations to download and try? That isn't good.
-
livecd doesnt even work =O
and im not the only one. lots of people in their forums are experiencing the same thing. -
They'll give you the codes if you just tell them you'll spread the word.....
@lajkin....I'm checking it out now....the unstable liveCD worked fine....I'll post back -
Its probably your ATI video card. If you try changing drivers for something more recent, you'll probably be fine.
-
Yeah, probably...I have an nvidia card and it works fine
-
o_o
i tried both the radeon and the fglrx ones. both didnt load up the livecd. there was a third option i cant remember what it was tho. ill try that later.
I must say tho...ATI and Nvidia, both GREAT card makers. ATI drivers suck ****, even on windows, and Nvidia cant seem to manufactor cards that are not dfective
-
Use the genaric vesa drivers until you can get into a desktop. Then you can use Synaptic to get something that works.
-
I can't get the stable version up even with the opensource nv driver....the 'unstable' cd comes right up...I'll try another driver.
EDIT: The stable version came up just fine with the std vesa driver, however it didn't recognize I had a wireless card, whereas the unstable version did. That's a pretty old kernel in stable so I didn't think it would. It's pretty cool, but I wish these guys would work on these distros from a modern laptop....I don't even know anyone that uses a desktop anymore....
-
People who game use desktops..
-
not all of us....try taking a desktop to a hotel room....LOL
-
people who game use windows ^_-
-
Yeah, that too. People who game casually dual boot
-
....dual boot on laptops in NBR.com.....aren't we back where we started? ah, sheeshhh
