Intel have release documentation which should be very beneficial for those of us with the X3100 IGP:

Hopefully drivers can be created which use a lot of the X3100's capabilities and increase performance significantly. Having said that the Linux drivers at the moment aren't too bad!

They don't work terribly well for me at the moment. I'm hopeful that a later driver revision will make life better for me.

Yeah, the dual-monitor abilities are pretty pathetic with my Ubuntu'fied X3100 equipped Acer. It'd be great if Intel's move results in better functionality.

I'm using openSUSE :) it should do because developer have now got some documentation to develop and compile drivers for the X3100. Hopefully we'll see some binary packages appearing in our update managers in the not too distant future. I'm sure there are lots of developers getting straight to work on this, that's the good thing about Linux :D

    https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/165117

Also, Compiz draws white all over the place and effects were quite slow when I tried. (When Kubuntu tried to enable XGL by default, performance just went to hell, I had to completely disable it to get things like minimizing windows to occur in under 5-10 seconds)

Games that work fine on weaker hardware or in Windows are "jumpy" or "jittery" I guess.

It must be a Kubuntu specific issue. I am having no such problems with PCLinuxOS and my X3100 based laptop.
