This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    After distro hopping for two months, I finally came to the realization that Ubuntu (Kubuntu in my case) is the only real option for me, all things considered :D

    Nothing wrong with Mint at all....I sometimes doubt the point of it, but they do do a lot of configuration things for you, install codecs and do some modding, and have their own portals....it's actively supported!)

    Mint is pretty nice and very simple to use, as is Ubuntu. Only problem for me is that is won't fetch me a mocha. lol

    I've had it booted for the whole day, it outpaced vista by 23 hours, 45 minutes.

    I was in Vista yesterday, cleaning up the drive, removing programs, defragging, etc and surfing....man oh man it seemed slow as molasses after being away so long in Linux. Wow.
