Alright, it's roundup time:
Excluding emulated games (zsnes, wine etc), what are your favourite games for linux? (Yes, I'm fishing for something to put on my laptop running Ubuntu 8.10 besides Scorched3D, Secret Maryo Chronicles and Tron)
Anyone?

unrelated - ....fellow dragunov player? Tried him on T6 yet?
-
2dBoy just released their World of Goo client for linux
-
The Fire Snake Notebook Virtuoso
I like lbreakout2 and I am just starting to get into Teeworlds(fun and insane game!)
-
Is there an SNES emulator for Linux? If so, I could play Zelda!
-
I use ZSNES.
I haven't tried them, but word on the street is that the Unreal Tournament series have native linux ports. -

I play some Nexuiz every once in a while. It's sort of entertaining, even though the net code is abysmal (it's based on heavily modified GL Quake).
UT did have a native linux version, I played 2004 for a while. Obviously Quake 4 too. Lots of games run fine under Wine, I've gotten Battlefield 2142 and CoD4 working. I've heard rumors of CoD WAW being playable on Wine, but I've not tried it.
My all time favorite is not a shooter though, it's a cheesy game called XBill that's been around forever. I'd definitely recommend checking it out
Also there's a decent Genesis emulator called Gens which I've been playing with lately. Unfortunately it has no netplay support on linux. -
For those (like me) who prefer a simple game of chess, against strong opposition, here is a link to some chess games for Linux

while this is on an openSUSE wiki, much of this is applicable to all distributions. -
Left 4 Dead.

Does L4D have a native Linux port, or are you running it through Wine? How does it run? Am I going to have to buy a fast GPU for my new desktop since I doubt my 7600GT in my lappy is fast enough for it?
-
Unfortunately not, I've just been big on the SVD since the first Ghost Recon.
What are you talking about? I'm piqued now lol.
Oh snap! I didn't realise they'd expanded on Tower of Goo - that game is great lol... PayPal tiemz, I think.
Was gonna get nexuix last night, but the download was too big for the time I had (just moved out and still trying to organise internet access, which is a metric biatch where linux is concerned lol.
Thanks for the ideas, guys.
I'm also thinking about checking out World of Padman - any opinions on that? -
Everything made by Kenta Cho.

Wow, those look pretty cool [gathers tarballs]

tux cart ftw
-
I've gotta say, I got supertuxcart yesterday, and as a giant fan of super mario cart, I was disappointed.
Mind you, when something is free, and worth more than the time it takes to download, it's always good value lol. -
yea hard to argue with free...wasnt the greatist , but i thought i would bring up a classic

The Fire Snake Notebook Virtuoso
I am really starting to like/get addicted to frozen bubble. I love the simple yet clean graphics and I truly love the music, it is so relaxing.
I am also playing super tux, which is very similar to super mario bros, it is pretty good.
I like these simple arcade type games(any more recommendations?). I never played games much in linux but I am starting to now! -
The Fire Snake Notebook Virtuoso
I sorta felt the same thing. I am also a big fan of the whole mario cart series. supertuxcart is ok, but kind of choppy in the graphics dept. -
Ok, so call me a nut, but I actually like the typing games that you can download.
But other than that the tux games are pretty cool. An that Tron-like game with the light cycles.

Mario-like Tux game

Not a fan of Secret Maryo Chronicles?
