I answered your post in the op thread the one with alternatives to adobe products.

thanx dude! but I've already tried that
.... it doesn't work either. I get the message saying "package is virtual". meanwhile neither youtube, nor flash based chat systems will work on this damn computer!
-
did you ping to that ip address to make sure u got a connection to it?
-
-
Are you behind proxy?
How did you try to download it? Through browser? Or ubuntu updater? -
Have you tried downloading the package yourself and installing it?
-
Simple solution is download it from Adobe and sudo copy libflashplugin.so into /usr/lib/yourbrowserfolder/plugins

There's a new flash beta for 64 bit, I've been running it for a few days:
Adobe Labs - Adobe Flash Player 10.1
Extract and dump it in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/ -
thanx guys.... finally managed to get itdone. had to use the command line though
. however, can someone tell me what do i do to play .dat files in ubuntu. i have vlc installed, but it doesn't seem to work! it keeps telling me "Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'dvd:///media/VolumeLabel'. Check the log for details."
neither can bro play his gre prep disc!
what's wrong with it? I have all the restricted extras loaded too! -
I would have also suggested you install google chrome or chromium from the repos since it comes with flash and auto update...
-
thanx buddy... m on my way! but what about the irritating dvd playback problem? .dat files still wont play!
