    Flash not loading in Ubuntu 10.04

    guys...m sorry if this the wrong place to ask this, but m using ubuntu 10.04! i am unable to install flash in anyway! i always get the following error message:

    thanx dude! but I've already tried that :confused: .... it doesn't work either. I get the message saying "package is virtual". meanwhile neither youtube, nor flash based chat systems will work on this damn computer! :confused: :mad: :eek:

    Hi, if you ping it, it still doesn't mean you can get there.
    Are you behind proxy?
    How did you try to download it? Through browser? Or ubuntu updater?

    Have you tried downloading the package yourself and installing it?

    Simple solution is download it from Adobe and sudo copy libflashplugin.so into /usr/lib/yourbrowserfolder/plugins

    thanx guys.... finally managed to get itdone. had to use the command line though :p. however, can someone tell me what do i do to play .dat files in ubuntu. i have vlc installed, but it doesn't seem to work! it keeps telling me "Your input can't be opened:
    VLC is unable to open the MRL 'dvd:///media/VolumeLabel'. Check the log for details."

    neither can bro play his gre prep disc!

    what's wrong with it? I have all the restricted extras loaded too! :(

    I would have also suggested you install google chrome or chromium from the repos since it comes with flash and auto update...
