Why are they doing that? How did you get the code?
-
Thanks for that. This is probably a good way for new guys to get into Linux. There are a lot of people in line for the download though.
-
I got it after 3 hours, LOL. But its free.
Just sign up and come back later if you dont want to wait in line...
or someone can upload the ISO to Rapidshare or Megaupload.
I wish I can upload it, but my DSL sucks. -
Thanks Gophn, for the notice.
I just went and got mine but it is setting in the My Products section as I don't want to wait in line to download it and am not in a hurry. I'll just wait until the crowd is gone and get it then. I tried to contact support and here is the message they gave me.....
In order to better serve you, the Linspire Support website is down for planned upgrades and maintenance. We expect the new system to be operational by April 16th, 2007 so you can submit support tickets again. (In the meantime, you may benefit from our helpful community at http://forum.freespire.org)
This may explain why the line is so long.
I think this deal is a good thing for Linux as a lot of people will be trying Linspire due to this. -

-
They tend to do this just before they release a new version. And sure enough, if you look at their release history on distrowatch they're due for a release.
-
QoS deprecating HTTP traffic FTW!
If you can decode that, you win -
quality of service/traffic shaping slowing down your web access owns you?
do I get a cookie? -
Why don't you take two and a half cookies, BigV.
After people download and install Linspire, post your experiences working with it. I am curious as always. -
Are you saying the QoS can be bypassed?
-
Doubtful, unless you have an "in" with your ISP.
The originating website may be/probably is capping download speeds. -
Usually the ISP isn't the one implementing the QoS. On your router on the other hand, you can put all traffic over port 80 at the lowest priority, so your games will always take precedence.
-
I don't think my d-link has traffic-shaping abilities... it would probably cause it to explode or something.
-
Ah, sorry I misunderstood. I thought you were talking about Linspire server throttling.
-
Hope you guys got your copy.
The line is down to 23 people. So go download it if you havent yet. -
# The coupon code you entered is invalid
Crap! Looks like the coupon has expired. No joy today.
Thanks for letting everyone in the forum know, tho -- mebbe I'll be faster next time. -
Don't care for this download since I have Ubuntu exactly how I want it.
But I'm very interested in a review of Linspire from you guys. What make this distro worth paying for VS what I can do for free on Ubuntu(or another free distro)? And how close to windows is this? Are the any Upgrade of any kind free? What do they mean by Digital version & .linspire account? -
-
-
It should be very similar to freespire. I heard version 2.0 is coming out (past due).
