I did a quick and dirty sketch in GIMP.How do I get it to save the file as a .gif, jpeg,or .png?I tried everything I could except installing an image converter.I thought GIMP had that built in?It's probably so simple that I am over complicating it.

U just have to image->mode and make sure it's the right format for the output type, then when you go to 'save as' it defaults to 'by extension' so whatever extension you type, or you can manually choose it from the dropdown.

Image->mode only gives me colour options, but I got the drop down menu figured out.It was way simpler than I was making it.Thanks for the help. You have rescued me from Linux death once again.

I guess I was just being pedantic... If I switch to indexed I usually tweak it under image mode but u can do pretty much the same in the dialog after save as.

either that or it detects when you type the extension so if you type image.jpg it will save a jpg and so on.
