Just want to know how nay are using gentoo in they're laptops.
I am running it for like 5-6 months and the only problems that i have are gnome freezes or X server when i view flash videos also sometimes when i open big files in gedit and i scroll down.
still have to find a way to ssh or get those infos to fix it. overall im enjoying every bit of it.
post also your configs and kernel version![]()
im using vanilla kernel for like 2 months, its a bit slower but it feels more stable and i have less freezes.

The freeze thing is video driver related. See SL proper way to install latest nvidia / amd video drivers there is a tweak for that.
You can also edit /etc/rc.conf " parallel="yes" would give you faster boot times.
CFLAGS can be set to point to CXXFLAGS all in one line.
Dual core Intel t2600 2.16ghz
MAKEOPTS="-j16 -s"
PORTAGE_NICENESS="12"
Another option here to keep it fluid is needed. see man make.conf 5 for details.
FEATURES add buildpkg also not sure if fixpackages is working with latest portage versions or beta version.
Adding binhost for ~amd64 or ~x86_64 is available and should speed up the compile times. See calculate linux, funtoo and google search for the bin servers, I will later boot into linux and see if I still have this info for you.
Got to run cua ltr. -
Nice to see someone uses gentoo here.
Yes i belived that the freez is a driver issue but it just anoyes me a lot i lost a lot prolog code las week from that.
now i lost a day baking my laptop motherboard. i will take a look at those flags and things tomorrow and i will be back. hope my laptop wont fail me very soon.
and i am still new to linux but i went straight to gentoo. im using it about mm 5-6 months. still have to learn a lot im getting there i believe.
as for freezes is noveau better or its the same. or even worse as i read it has slow performance and glitches with kde.
