Wow, its been a while LOL
I'm just getting back into Linux after being forced to use Windows for 2 years. Getting a new laptop but I'm nervous, been reading up on all this Windows 8 mess and its kind of scary.
My new laptop (when I get to town and buy it) Acer 15.6" Laptop, 2.2GHz Intel Pentium B960, 4GB DDR, 500GB HDD (E1-531-4624) | Staples®
I've picked out Manjaro Linux as my distro, I want something a bit more flexible than Ubuntu (my netbook is Ubuntu) and I was using ArchBang the last time I was in the Linux world. This netbook doesn't count LOL.
Any glaring issues? I just turn off the secure boot and it should work, correct?

Hey, wb.
Here's a link to the specs for anyone else looking at this thread: Acer | Aspire E | E1-531-4624 | Datasheet
When you're looking for BIOS stuff related to W8 machines, it's often useful to look at W7 downgrades as a first step: Re: Downgrade E1-531-4624 from Windows 8 to Window... - Acer Support Community
I don't see any compatibility problems, but "Acer Nplify 802.11b/g/n" doesn't give too much of a clue as to what its wireless chipset is. -
