Ok...I hope this is the last thread for a while![]()
I love how everything just pretty much works (as far as drivers go) in linux. However, the sound always seems to be a problem, not just the my notebook, but my desktop at school too. I'm have a dv9700t with the Realtek High Definition Audio which is pretty much standard on the new HP's.
How might I find and install a driver for this or maybe get one that was included in Fedora 9 to work? I'm pretty sure I can get one from Realtek's website and then maybe give it a shot, but I'm noticing that a lot is done from WITHIN the OS (like with yum) on linux, so I'm wondering how to do it that way. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Honestly the best thing to do is hang out on the forums for your distro. I bought a new Compal and I found some help with the sound card but mainly I had to wait for 8.04 to catch up with my hardware.

Thanks, yah I've been hanging out in the fedora forums alot. BTW...love the icon. Shin Chan rocks.

No problem. It rocks to have the new hardware but there are a few drawbacks.

Before you go about installing drivers, try using ALSA (Advanced Linux Sound Architecture) instead of PulseAudio as your sound daemon.
