I read about Clem at Mint 'fitting' his desktop to Fedora a couple of years ago....said it was rock solid......how about:

Mint Desktop on top of CentOS? What do you guys think of this combo should Clem decide to accept the mission?
    :D

haha...I really like CentOS...I posted this on the Mint forum for grins....there's a script for Fedora, third party, that can be installed, and gives you a checklist of various non-free and free software/codecs to select and automatically install for you....it's a real time saver....I read he is converting that for use on CentOS....may give it another shot.... :)

    Feeling better now btw? :)

I'm kind of disgusted with Debian, in this day and age, that whey can't take the time to roll in some wireless drivers for the majority of laptop users out there... :p But yeah, Fedora is pretty sweet....I'm using the gnome desktop with it.

Well, that's tough....for me, for purely practical reasons, it would be Fedora and Ubuntu/Mint....I'm talking with one of the Slackware dev's right now on Facebook about putting gnome on Slack, which is sacrilegious to many :) I use gnome mainly because my dropbox and Crossover office runs more smoothly on it. Also with Fedora and Ubuntu/Debian you have the most apps ready to go for installation.

Zenwalk and Mandriva are on my short list too. Arch is the ONLY distro for many, but I've never got really into yet because it requires me to run a cable..

DistroHopping is a disease of sorts. Many of us on this forum are afflicted with it.... :p

    yup distrohopping indeed! :)

i've never tried Zenwalk or mandriva..i have tried pclinuxos..i didn't mind that one either..so far it's been ubuntu that i have liked the most..then fedora..
i'm also going to try my installation of mint 8 2morrow..
    yup..i'm a gnome person too!

Good for you, about Gnome....and Mint/Fedora....Zenwalk is a different animal based on Slackware....it's fast and the package manager, NetPkg works pretty good. They have a gnome edition, but it seems to lag a little bit in release cycles as Zen is primarily an Xfce distro. I'm liking Fedora everyday more and more as it doesn't crash more and more.... :D
