Who besides me has switched over from Ubuntu to Mint? What do you like better about Mint? Maybe I'll learn something here :D

I've switched to Mint. I like all the little features added here and there, and particularly the menu structure, which is simple and efficient (Note: it's possible to remove the mintMenu and get back to Gnome's default menu)

Mint users, here you can find the User Guide for v4.0: http://www.linuxmint.com/pub/Daryna_User_Guide.pdf

To me it seems like mintupdate replaces ubuntu's 'add/remove', and mint adds Envy and Wireless ndiswrapper to the menu? The menu structure is different in that they put everything under one drop down. What else?

That's good John B, I've read that. I wonder why Mint isn't running any faster, maybe slower, than Vista on machine (in sig). Can I add any nvidia video driver I want with Envy? If so, I can make it scream. The stock Asus modded Nvidia driver does something with the video card bios we think, and runs it fast fast fast....it's a modular MXMII type upgradeable card.

I switched and wondered why I hadn't done it sooner.

I just wish I had a video card in my toughbook that would do something with Compiz. I like translucency.

Because Vista makes use of dual-core CPU + all the RAM to work :p Superfetch makes it pretty fast once it's set up.

I just ordered the Fedora 8 x64 DVD, lookinf forward to try that! I like Mint but I'd like to try the other one. Going red hat makes me thing softwares download will be easier xD (everything being in rpm)

I used to use red hat back in 02, and liked it pretty much...I've thought about checking Fedora also. PCLinuxOS uses RPM's also, but I couldn't get things set up right, or didn't take the time actually. Still have the live CD.
