This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     Thanks for sharing that, it might come handy when you expect it least.
    For myself, i'm still rather sticking with grub 1, since all those automated scripts for generating grub conf. file are still scarig the hell out of me :D

    I just hope I can remember it if I don't have an internet connection, even after writing a short guide. :p I always try to keep as many devices around me as possible, but as you said, it happens when you least expect it. Luckily it wasn't my own system this time, but I run Debian Sid/Unstable and GRUB 2 has broken before, and other things have broken my initrds even (that is a nasty one -- I keep at least two old kernel packages installed now to fall back on), so I try to keep the worst case scenario covered at all times. :)
