Hi, all.
I bought an HP Envy 13 about a month ago. I was waiting for Ubuntu 11.04 to be released - thought I would get less issues that way. Didn't work out.
I do realise there's an HP Envy & Linux thread here, but it's really ancient so I thought a new topic would attract more attention.
Here are the issues I ran into while trying Ubuntu 11.04 via wubi:
1. Clickpad. Right button doesn't work, but that's OK (just tap the touchpad with two fingers - it'll work). Drag'n'drop, however, is a more serious matter. There's a combo for that, like holding Alt and double tapping the pad, but it works 1 time out of 10.
2. Webcam - doesn't work at all. Cheese recognizes it, but won't accept any input.
3. Video - seems to me, that all vga_switcheroo guides are model-specific. What do I need to do in order to get switching to work on HP envy 13?
BTW, are BIOS issues that lead to overheating (due to non-ACPI compliant thermal sensors) relevant to HP Envy 13?
Thanks in advance, any advice will really be appreciated. Otherwise, I'm stuck with Win7 =(

Still no help from anyone? I'm wondering if I can install the latest release of Ubuntu, but I'm not sure because of the switchable graphics and the clickpad... Did you find any solutions to those problems, or the overheating?

Try an ubuntu 11.10 livecd or liveusb made with unetbootin. If you run into issues in the newest release post as much info as you can about the problem and maybe we can point you to solutions.
I have experienced the clickpad problem with right clicking not working, it required using a (tweaked) patch from SuSE. It will probably not work as-is for you, but if you want to read the background info, I posted about it here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/lenovo-ibm/575569-linux-x220-26.html#post7992503 -
