I guess for the people who are reading this, the last bastion of closed-source, proprietary software is tucked away in the BIOS. I am wondering if anyone has used LinuxBIOS (part of the OpenBIOS collection)? I am kind of hesitant to completely replace my current BIOS.

I think it's a really cool project, but it's still fairly new, from what I understand. Hell, it doesn't even support the chipset in my lappy yet. -
Yes, it was indeed that line that scared me...not that I was very excited about risking a bad BIOS flash.

No, I haven't. Looks like a good idea, but it's too dangerous now if you don't have the facilities to re-flash your BIOS back to a known-working one.
