I am not happy with the default Linux distro, particularly: Xandros, that came with my eeepc 4G. Yes, it's fast but I'm getting bored with the plain interface plus the KDE Crash Handler that frequently pops out everytime I insert usb thumb drive. Hence, I am really looking for the best Linux distro for my eeepc 4G. Unfortunately, there is a diverse choices of Linux distros available like eeebuntu, easy peasy (formerly known as ubuntu eee), cruncheee (aka crunchbang), arch linux, mandrive, open suse, fedora, etc.! These choices make me even more confuse to which Linux distro really best suits my pearl white asus eeepc model, ASUS eeepc 4G, being one of the first eeepc model that was launched by ASUS to date. Please help me on this :(

Here's the detailed link of my asus eeepc 4G's specs

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your concern.

    - I don't want to do trial and error at this moment since I don't have the leisure as of now due to schoolwork. That's why, I want to verify which Linux distro best fits my asus eeepc 4G :)

I saw your signature and apparently, your notebook is not an asus eeepc. WOuld you still recommend running crunchbang on my 4G considering my eeepc 4G's limited specs?

By the way, what's the difference between crunch eee and crunch bang? Is Crunch eee a subsidiary client of crunch bang?

Cruncheee is a customized flavor of Crunchbang Linux, it was put together with the EeePC in mind. And I did mention that you can ask on the forums for EeePC's as they can probably tell you just what issues you might encounter. I had to learn it all myself, with some absolutely amazing help from the people on here, how to get my laptop to run linux. Nobody had documented, or mentioned running linux on the K40. Even if you run into some issues, the people on here are great and will help. One of Linux's good points is that it often works well on low specs and older models. :)

cruncheee is based on ubuntu 8.10 and is discontinued. Most hotkeys and such work in crunchbang. If you like, there is a guide for installing the eeepc control center in crunchbang 9.04. More stuff should be supported in the next round.

-If you say discontinued, you mean it has no recent updates 'cos currently ubuntu has 9.04v already ... Do you know why Linux discontinued cruncheee?

No, I meant that cruncheee (based on ubuntu 8.10) is discontinued. The guy that developed the cruncheee remix figured that crunchbang (based on ubuntu 9.04) is close enough so that the remix is unnecessary.

I tried them both and I prefer the latest crunchbang. The next go round based on 9.10 should be even better.

Karmic Koala will be coming out at the end of next month. The ubuntu-based distros like mint and crunchbang will follow suit after.
