    Hi everyone,
I am completely new to Linux, so forgive me. I downloaded the Xubuntu 7.10 PPC alternate install CD, and then burned it to a CD and installed it on my iMac. The install seemed to go fine and I got up to the Xubuntu splash screen on the first reboot. It stayed there for about a minute, and then proceeded to a command line interface briefly and now it is stuck on BusyBox and the command "(initramfs)". So, what is BusyBox doing here, what am I supposed to do with it, and why did it load instead of loading a GUI? Any suggestions/help please?

    Computer Specs:
    iMac DV+ G3 450MHz (Sage, slot loading, Summer 2000)
    512MB PC100 SDRAM
    DVD reader/CD-RW drive
ATi Rage 128 GPU with 8MB SDRAM

Thanks for the suggestions, jas. I tried several different versions of Ubuntu, Kubuntu and Xubuntu with no luck until I downloaded the Ubuntu 7.04 live cd, which actually worked! (with the necessary adjustments to xorg.conf for the VGA, of course) I am downloading the alternate CD for it right now, and using the newly reincarnated iMac to type this :). I am so happy that I finally have something running on this iMac that has a GUI consisting of more than 16 colors lol, and I am happy that I am finally getting into Linux in a unique and useful way.
