I have a big problem see, I have ubuntu on my asus laptop and am trying to remove it so I can run windows xp.But my bios dosent recognize cd roms.how do i make the bios recognize cd roms????Update???

I think you are referring to trying to get xp to boot from cd. If so then turn your computer on and F1 to go to bios. Then change the boot order to put cd on top as #1, save your changes, then restart and you should see the To boot from cd/dvd press any key and you are good to go.

Note that your BIOS "activation" button may not be F1. For instance, it's F2 on my computer.

it does not recognize cd roms

How did you install Ubuntu then?

It's almost impossible for a modern laptop to NOT recognize CD-ROMs on bootup because really, there isn't any other removable media that can be made bootable (seeing as the floppy disk has gone extinct).
Either your BIOS or CD is corrupt, or you're not using the correct option in the BIOS. -
i know the laptop recognizes it but when i enter bios nothing shows up. Maybe your right ,.I have an asus so i press F2 and when i do this nothing happens.Whats the step by step???

It would probably be good for you to read the "Linux is NOT Windows" thread. There are certain differences between the two, and you can't expect them to work exactly the same.
Also, you may get more help if you ask in the Asus forum. This is more of a hardware BIOS issue than a Linux issue.
Help....Again!
